Simon, Senior Associate and Co-director of Structural Engineering in the West region, performs structural and seismic evaluations involved with property condition assessments, seismic risk assessments, pre-construction structural drawings reviews and owner’s representation services.
His structural engineering experience includes analysis, design and construction observation for residential, commercial and industrial projects. Prior to joining Marx|Okubo, Simon was an associate and project manager at Englekirk Structural Engineers, where he managed and performed analysis and design of several new mid- and high-rise multifamily and office buildings, as well as multiple structural repair projects in Southern California.
As part of his doctoral research, Simon conducted experimental and analytical studies on seismic performance of existing non-ductile concrete moment frames with participants from U.S., Canada and Taiwan.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from BIHE University, a a master’s degree in structural engineering from Carleton University, and a doctorate in structural and earthquake engineering from the University of British Columbia in Canada. Simon is a registered Professional Civil Engineer, PE, and a registered Structural Engineer, SE, in the State of California. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Earthquake Engineering Research Institute and American Concrete Institute.
