Sustainability measures are quickly becoming the rule rather than the exception. This is evident in California's most recent revision to its statewide building code. In the 2010 update, California has introduced CALGreen, the nation's first statewide green building code. This code, found in Chapter 11 of Title 24, contains measures for site selection, storm water control during construction, construction waste reduction, indoor water use reduction, material selection, natural resource conservation, and site irrigation conservation. Marx|Okubo has summarized the most prominent features of CALGreen to help illustrate how these requirements and protocols will affect architects, builders, and contractors. This is not intended to serve as a comprehensive list.
