Middle Georgia State University’s (MGSU’s) Eastman Campus supports strategic aviation workforce needs in the State of Georgia and has sustained significant growth in flight and aircraft maintenance degree programs. This project is very significant to the aviation industry in Georgia. It provides the capacity necessary to continue meeting increased student and market demands for these key programs.
The project comprises a new 20,000-square-foot, free-standing maintenance hangar to support FAA-required periodic maintenance of the Eastman training aircraft fleet. In addition, it includes backfill renovation and selective reconfiguration of approximately 16,000 square feet of existing building space to create a variety of instructional, student support, and faculty office spaces.
As the owner’s program manager, Marx|Okubo represents the owner and Middle Georgia State University throughout the programming, planning, design, and pre-GMP construction phase of the project to ensure that all elements of the work meet the required quality, design standards, budget, and construction schedule. It is anticipated that program management services will continue into construction administration once the contractor’s GMP change order is approved.
Marx|Okubo has a clearly-defined delegation of authority to act on the owner’s behalf and provides the resources and expertise necessary to understand and be responsible for, a broad spectrum of services related to the project. Marx|Okubo assists with developing a strategy for the best approach for the successful completion of the project and provides guidance and assistance in the preparation of a schedule and reliable cost estimate.
