This new academic building replacement project includes approximately 57,500 square feet in a six-story building. The goal of the project was to create a state-of-the-art, high-efficiency, environmentally sustainable building that replaces a building located at 198 McAllister, where programs are currently housed.
The Marx|Okubo team was tasked with program management of design schematics by developing performance criteria that represents approved design direction for the project by the state legislature, Department of General Services, UC Hastings College of Law and the surrounding community. The project delivery approach and method is a design-build process in which the designer/builder is responsible for the design and construction of a building that conforms to the character, intent, and function of the performance requirements.
At completion, the building will reflect the university’s commitment to resource conservation and sustainability. It will also assume a 30-year expected useful life (EUL) and achieve a minimum USGBC LEED New Construction (NC) certification of Silver.
